Etomethazene is a new synthetic opioid of the benzimidazole class, with high opioid potency (120-140 times higher than morphine and about 2 times stronger than fentanyl). Structurally, etomethazene is similar to etonitazene, with the difference in the alkyl groups listed in R3 and R4, etomethazene has a methyl group on R4.
Etomethazene acts as a strong analgesic, there is opioid euphoria and sedative effect. This is a fairly strong drug and the dosage of the drug starts at 0.1 mg, and the dosage of 1 mg is very high and is applied through the nose and intravenously, with oral administration it acts much weaker. This drug is well soluble in water. Like most opioids in this class, etomethazene can cause opioid dependence, and at high dosages, side effects such as vomiting and respiratory depression are possible.
