4-HO-EPT (4-Hydroxy-N-ethyl-N-propyltryptamine or Eprocin) is a tryptamine designer drug, a structural analogue of psilocin (4-HO-DMT), which has a similar effect on the body.
This drug has a structure consisting of a bicyclic indole heterocycle like all tryptamines. 4-HO-EPT is replaced on R4 by a functional OH group and contains propyl and ethyl chains linked to EPT.
As the studies on rodents showed, 4-HO-EPT acts as a partial agonist of 5-HT2A receptors and causes such effects as increased blood pressure, dilated pupils, color changes, hallucinations, altered thinking, heightened emotions, and euphoria.
Tolerance to the drug is formed immediately after taking it, and it takes at least a week for a full recovery.
Pharmacological and toxicological properties of the drug are not fully studied.
The substance is banned for sale in countries such as Germany, Switzerland and the United States.
